Milestone #2 Salvation
Age: 6-10 yrs. old

The second step in the Journey of Family is teaching our children a clear understanding of the most important relationship in all the world - our relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

God loves us and pursues a relationship with each person in creation, but we must understand that we are sinners (Romans 3:23) and are separated from God. As a result, God initiates reconciliation toward us through coming as a man in Jesus and living a perfect life so that He might become the perfect sacrifice for our sin. Through His death, burial and resurrection, we are given the hope of new life in Christ.

In order to teach our children this key concept, we must understand the Gospel story. To do this, we will use John 3:16 which says, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." This verse of scripture is the Gospel in a nutshell. There are 3 key points we need to take from this verse and teach our children:
The Fact: God so loved the world
The Act: that He gave His only Son
The Pact: so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life

Once we understand the Gospel, we can then lead our children to understand how to receive Jesus as their Savior. We call it the ABCs of Salvation. You can talk your child through these:

A—Admit to God that you are a sinner
We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags.
Isaiah 64:6 NLT

B—Believe that Jesus is God’s Son and He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 NLT

C—Choose to receive the gift of salvation
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent,c nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” 1 John 1:12-13

Pray and receive the gift of salvation - once your son/daughter understands the ABCs of salvation. They should pray these ABCs as a prayer adn receive God's gift of salvation in Jesus. Once they do this, please send us an email at info@cometolifepoint.org and let us celebrate with you.
