Milestone #6 Purity Commitment
Age: 12 years old but should begin by age 5

Sexual purity is one of the most critical milestones in the Journey of Family; and yet, it tends to be one of the most neglected subjects for parents to address with their kids. The preparation for this milestone begins with the biblical foundation of purity. 1 Corinthians 6:13 says, "You can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies." NLT 

Purity Begins With What We Believe About God.
Teaching our children about sexual purity is not just a sex education talk about the birds and the bees. Nor do you have to be a doctor or psychologist to teach your kids about sex. Teaching our children about sex must begin with the foundation of teaching our children about God. Yes, we will give them the anatomical information, but even more, we will teach them emotionally and spiritually how to deal with sex.
You see, God is the Creator and Author of sex. He gave it to us as a gift to relish, to enjoy, to experience as a pleasure that is unlike any other. And God is a holy God. A God of character. He desires that we experience this gift within the realm of godliness and holiness (within marriage).

Behavior is the result of belief. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” If our kids believe in who God says they are, they will be far more likely to live out a commitment to purity.
