In June of 2008, a group of people met at a park for a service. Two weeks later they decided to plant a church they would name Water's Edge. Experts in church planting would never recommend starting a church at the beginning of the summer without a pastor. Nonetheless, the 7 person leadership team led courageously to get this church off the ground. By the end of June, the church had located a school to begin meeting in and they were off and running. So much for the experts...
On November 1st, Darren Tidwell came on board as the Lead Pastor of the church. At the very same time, God blessed the church with a miracle deal with a facility that was already built out for a church. On December 21st, the church held its first meeting in a strip center at 2450 E. Main. In January 2009, the church name was changed to LifePoint Church.
With a passion to lead people to freedom in Jesus Christ and to build families, the church was off and running. By August of 2009, the church had grown from around 100 to almost 200. Characteristics of the church are its friendly environment, family focus and commitment to authenticity.
